Damper Rod - 16" is the replacement shaft for 16" travel bypass shock absorbers and 2.5" single-adjustable coilovers.

The rod carries the piston through the damper body and passes out through the seal head, so its hard-chromed surface forms the running face for the shaft seal. A scored, pitted or bent rod loses oil past the seal and cannot be trued, and is therefore renewed during a shock rebuild alongside the seal kit for the corresponding body size.

Supplied as a bare rod.

Frequently asked questions

What is the TFSHAFT16 damper rod used for?
The TFSHAFT16 damper rod is the replacement shaft for 16in travel bypass shock absorbers and 2.5in single-adjustable coilovers. It carries the piston through the damper body and passes out through the seal head, so its hard-chromed surface forms the running face for the shaft seal.
When does a damper rod need replacing?
A damper rod needs replacing when it is scored, pitted or bent. Once the hard-chromed surface is damaged it lets oil past the seal and cannot be trued, so it is renewed during a shock rebuild alongside the seal kit for the matching body size.
Does this damper rod come with seals?
No, the TFSHAFT16 is supplied as a bare rod. Because a damaged rod ruins the shaft seal, it is typically fitted together with the seal kit for the corresponding shock body size during a rebuild.
