Sump Drain Plug for the engine oil pan, forming the sealed drain point of the engine lubrication system.

The plug threads into the lowest point of the sump and is removed to drain the engine oil at service intervals. It seals against a copper crush washer that deforms on tightening to give a leak-tight joint; the washer is a single-use item and should be renewed every time the plug is disturbed. The companion sealing washer is UAM2857L.

This is a plain drain plug without a magnetic tip. A weeping sump plug is most often the washer rather than the plug itself, but a plug with a damaged sealing face or stretched thread should be replaced rather than over-tightened.
