Worm Drive Hose Clamp - worm-type clamp used in the exhaust gas recirculation system of the 3.0L M57 D30 turbo diesel engine.

It secures the flexible connections in the EGR circuit, which returns a metered flow of exhaust gas into the inlet tract to lower peak combustion temperature and reduce oxides of nitrogen. A worm drive band applies an even, adjustable clamping load around the full circumference of the hose, which matters on this circuit because the joints run hot and carry soot-laden gas.
