Frequently asked questions

What is the LH handbrake cable on a Freelander 1?

The LH handbrake cable (SPB101311) links the handbrake lever to the left-hand rear parking brake on the Freelander 1. When you set the lever, the cable pulls the rear brake mechanism to hold the vehicle, releasing it when the lever drops.

Does this handbrake cable fit the left or right side?

This SPB101311 handbrake cable fits the left-hand (LH) side of the Freelander 1 parking brake. The right-hand side takes a different cable, so confirm the side you need. It suits Freelander 1 vehicles up to VIN (V)YA999999.

What are the symptoms of a worn Freelander 1 handbrake cable?

A worn Freelander 1 handbrake cable usually shows as a handbrake that won't hold, feels slack, or stays partly applied. This typically comes from a corroded inner cable seizing in its sleeve or the cable stretching, both of which reduce parking brake effectiveness.
