RTC6481 is a genuine rubber seal for the Discovery 1 sunroof, sealing either the front or rear sunroof assembly against water and wind noise. It sits around the glass panel edge where it meets the roof aperture.
Does RTC6481 fit both the front and rear sunroof?
It fits both, but the front sunroof application only applies from VIN JA034313 onward. Check your chassis plate if fitting the front seal on an earlier Discovery 1, as pre-JA034313 vehicles used a different front sunroof design.
Where exactly does this seal sit on the sunroof?
It runs around the perimeter of the sunroof glass panel, sealing the gap between the glass and the roof aperture frame. A perished seal is the most common cause of sunroof leaks and wind noise on the Discovery 1.
Should I replace the seal every time I remove the sunroof panel?
