Oil Pump Gear Set - replacement gear set for the crankshaft-driven oil pump in the Rover V8 petrol engine lubrication system.

The gears run in the oil pump housing formed in the front cover, driven directly off the nose of the crankshaft. They generate the oil pressure that feeds the main and big-end bearings, the camshaft and the hydraulic tappets. Worn or scored gears increase running clearance in the pump and reduce oil pressure, most noticeably at idle and once the engine reaches operating temperature.

Applies to the serpentine-belt V8 with the crank-driven oil pump. Fitting requires removal of the front cover; renew the front cover gasket and the crankshaft front oil seal at the same time.
