Clutch Kit for the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel, covering the clutch assembly between the engine and the manual gearbox.

The driven plate runs on the gearbox input shaft splines and is clamped against the flywheel face by the cover assembly; the release bearing acts on the diaphragm spring fingers to disengage drive when the pedal is pressed. The three components wear together and the gearbox has to come out to reach any of them, so they are renewed as a set.

This kit includes the clutch cover, driven plate and release bearing.

Why are all three components replaced together?
The driven plate, cover and release bearing wear together, and reaching any of them means pulling the gearbox out. Since that's the labour-intensive part of the job, it makes sense to renew all three at once rather than risk doing the job twice.

Watch for slipping under load, a spongy or high biting point, or a noisy release bearing when the pedal is pressed. Any of these point to the driven plate, cover or bearing wearing out.
