Crown wheel and pinion set with a 3.8:1 final drive ratio, suitable for both the front and rear differential.

The crown wheel and pinion form the final drive stage within the differential housing. The pinion is driven by the propshaft and turns the crown wheel, transmitting drive through 90 degrees to the differential carrier and on to the halfshafts. The ratio sets the number of pinion revolutions per turn of the crown wheel and therefore the overall gearing between gearbox output and road wheels.

Crown wheel and pinion are lapped together as a matched pair and must be fitted as a set, with pinion depth, bearing preload and backlash set on installation.
