Fuel Strainer - gauze strainer for the fuel pressure regulator in the cylinder head fuel block of the Td5 2.5L five-cylinder turbo diesel.

Fuel delivered from the in-tank pump passes through the strainer before it reaches the regulator and the fuel gallery that feeds the injectors. The gauze traps coarse debris that would otherwise reach the regulator seat, where contamination causes unstable gallery pressure and hot-start problems.

The strainer is accessible once the regulator is removed and is inspected as part of fuel system servicing. A partially blocked strainer restricts flow into the gallery and is renewed rather than cleaned back into service.
