Air Flow Sensor - V8 is the mass air flow (MAF) sensor for the V8 EFI petrol engine, forming part of the air cleaner and intake assembly.

Mounted in the intake tract between the air filter and the throttle body, it measures the mass of air drawn into the engine and supplies that signal to the engine management ECU, which uses it to set fuelling. An accurate reading is essential for the correct air/fuel ratio, stable idle and clean throttle response.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Air Flow Sensor do on the V8?
The Air Flow Sensor is the mass air flow (MAF) sensor for the V8 EFI petrol engine. Mounted in the intake between the air filter and throttle body, it measures the mass of air entering the engine and sends that signal to the ECU, which uses it to set fuelling for the correct air/fuel ratio.
Which vehicles does this V8 air flow sensor fit?
This air flow sensor fits the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004) petrol V8 and Range Rover P38 (1994-2001) 4.0L and 4.6L V8 EFI petrol engines. It's the air cleaner and intake MAF sensor for these applications. Confirm your engine is the V8 EFI petrol before ordering.
Can the air flow sensor be fitted at home?
The air flow sensor typically fits at home with basic hand tools. On the Discovery 2 and Range Rover P38 V8 it usually mounts in the intake ducting with a clamp or screws and an electrical plug. Take care not to touch the sensing element, and clear any fault codes after fitting.
