Air Cleaner Cover - the lid of the air cleaner assembly in the induction system, sealing over the filter housing and retaining the air filter element.

It closes the top of the air cleaner box and forms the clean-side outlet that feeds the induction ducting on to the throttle body, so the joint between cover and housing is what keeps unfiltered air out of the intake tract. It carries the clip fixings and the outlet spigot. Fitted to petrol engine applications.

Cracks around the spigot and broken retaining clip lugs are the usual reasons for replacement; a cover that no longer seals admits air that has bypassed the airflow sensor, giving a weak mixture and an unstable idle.
