Long Track Rod End Assembly - the long end section of the steering track rod, comprising the crimped bar section and its integral ball joint.
It forms the outer part of the lower steering tie rod arrangement, giving the pivoting ball-joint connection that allows angular movement as the wheels turn and the suspension articulates, while transmitting steering input along the linkage. The long-arm configuration is used where a longer reach from the rack is required.
A worn joint produces steering looseness, knocking from the front end and uneven tyre wear. It is replaced as a unit; the opposite short track rod end is a separate part. Have the wheel alignment checked after fitting.
