Anti-Roll Bar - Front is the transverse torsion bar at the centre of the front anti-roll bar assembly.

The bar is clamped to the chassis through rubber-bushed mounting brackets and coupled to each side of the front axle by a drop link. Under cornering load the bar twists, transferring vertical load between the left and right wheels and limiting body roll.

This bar is for vehicles built without Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE). ACE-equipped vehicles use a hydraulically actuated bar of different design and the two are not interchangeable.

The bar depends on its chassis mounting bushes and drop links to work correctly. Inspect both when fitting a new bar, as worn bushes allow the bar to move in its mounts and reduce its effect.

Frequently asked questions

What does the front anti-roll bar do on a Discovery 2?
The front anti-roll bar is the transverse torsion bar at the front of the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004). Clamped to the chassis in rubber bushes and linked to each side of the front axle, it twists under cornering load to transfer weight between the wheels and limit body roll.
Does this front anti-roll bar fit Discovery 2 with ACE?
No, this front anti-roll bar is for Discovery 2 built without ACE (Active Cornering Enhancement). ACE-equipped vehicles use a different setup, so check whether your vehicle has ACE before ordering.
What are the signs the anti-roll bar or its bushes are worn?
Worn anti-roll bar bushes or links typically cause a knock or clonk over bumps and more body roll in corners. The bar itself rarely fails, so the rubber bushes and drop links are usually the parts that wear.
