Shock Absorber - Rear is a hydraulic damper in the rear suspension, mounting between the axle and the chassis.

It damps oscillation of the rear coil spring and resists unwanted axle movement, helping to maintain tyre contact and ride stability over uneven ground. The unit fits either side of the axle and is supplied singly; two are required per vehicle.

What does this rear shock absorber do?
This rear shock absorber damps the rear suspension on the Discovery 2. It controls spring movement so the wheels stay planted and the body settles after bumps. It fits either side, left or right, at the rear.
How many rear shocks does a Discovery 2 need?
Two rear shocks are needed per vehicle, one per side, and they fit either left or right. Replace them as a pair so both sides have matching damping. Fitting only one leaves a worn unit opposite, which makes the rear handle unevenly.
Does this fit my Discovery 2?
This rear shock fits the Discovery 2 from VIN 3A000000 onwards, roughly the 2003-2004 facelift build. Earlier Discovery 2 vehicles may use a different damper, so check your VIN before ordering to confirm you're in the correct build range.
What are the signs the rear shocks need replacing?
