Frequently asked questions

What is the STC1961 camshaft bearing set for?
The STC1961 camshaft bearing set provides the bearing surfaces the camshaft journals run on inside the Rover V8 cylinder block. The bearings locate the camshaft and hold its running clearance as it drives the valvetrain. Genuine Land Rover set covering one V8 engine.
Which engines does this camshaft bearing set fit?
This camshaft bearing set fits the Rover V8 petrol engine across the Defender, Discovery 1 and 2, Range Rover Classic and Range Rover P38. That covers the 3.9, 4.0, 4.2 and 4.6 litre V8 variants. Check your engine is a V8 application before ordering.
When does a camshaft bearing set need replacing?
A camshaft bearing set is typically renewed during a V8 engine rebuild or when the bearings show wear or scoring. Worn bearings can let camshaft running clearance open up, causing low oil pressure and noise. It's supplied as a matched set so all journals are replaced together.
