Main Bearing Set - a complete set of crankshaft main bearing shells for the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine, supplied in 0.020 in oversize.

The shells locate in the main bearing saddles of the cylinder block and in the matching bearing caps, carrying the crankshaft main journals. They set the running clearance at each main journal and maintain the oil film that the bottom end depends on under load.

Oversize shells are used where the crankshaft main journals have been reground 0.020 in undersize during a bottom-end rebuild. Measure the journal diameters and check the running clearance on assembly to confirm the correct shell size before final torque-down.
