Big End Bearing Set - a set of connecting rod (big end) bearing shells for the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel engine, supplied in 0.020 in oversize.

Each pair of shells fits between the connecting rod big end eye and its cap, running on the crankshaft crankpins. They carry the combustion and inertia loading transmitted by the piston and rod assembly, and set the clearance for the oil film delivered through the crankshaft drillings.

Oversize shells are used where the crankpins have been reground 0.020 in undersize. Measure the crankpin diameters and check the running clearance on assembly to confirm the correct shell size before final torque-down.
