Gasket Sealant - a non-setting jointing compound to the Hylomar 2000 specification, used on engine and transmission joint faces where a liquid sealant is specified in place of a solid gasket.
The compound remains permanently plastic rather than curing hard, so the joint stays sealed through repeated heat cycling and the faces can be separated again at overhaul without chiselling. A typical application is the sump-to-cylinder-block joint on TDi diesel engines, which is assembled on sealant rather than a gasket, along with general use on covers, housings and flange faces. It is resistant to engine oil, coolant and fuel.
Apply a thin, even film to both mating faces, which must be clean and dry, and assemble the joint before the surfaces are disturbed.
