Front coil spring retaining plates, supplied as a pair, forming part of the lower coil spring mounting at the axle.

The plate clamps across the base of the coil spring at the axle seat and holds the spring captive as the suspension droops. On a vehicle running long travel shock absorbers the spring can otherwise unseat itself at full extension; the retaining plate keeps the coil located so that it seats correctly again as the axle comes back up.

Zinc plated steel, heavier gauge than the standard retainer. Frequently used together with dislocation cones (TF501), which guide the spring back onto its seat as the suspension compresses.

What is the TF524 spring retaining plate?
The TF524 is a pair of front spring retaining plates for the Land Rover Discovery 2 (1998-2004). The plates hold the top of the coil spring captive in its seat, stopping the spring dislocating or shifting under heavy articulation. They're a common upgrade on lifted or off-road Discovery 2s.
Where do they fit and how many come in the pack?
The TF524 fits the front of a Discovery 2, one plate per side, and comes as a pair so both front springs are covered. The plate sits at the top of the coil spring seat. Fitting both sides keeps the front suspension balanced when the axle drops at full articulation.
Why fit spring retaining plates?
Retaining plates stop a coil spring popping out of its seat when the suspension drops at extreme angles off-road, a known issue on lifted Discovery 2s. The TF524 plates hold the spring captive so it stays located. Without them a dislocated spring can unseat and leave the corner sitting wrong.
