Gearbox Guard - steel transmission guard within the underbody protection group.

It bolts beneath the gearbox and transfer box, spanning the transmission tunnel area to take impacts from rocks and ledges that would otherwise strike the gearbox casing, bell housing and sump. Ground contact is spread across the guard and into its mounting points rather than into the transmission housing.

Profiled for the V8 petrol driveline layout; diesel installations use a different guard.
