Secondary Air Injection Hose - flexible hose in the secondary air injection system of the V8 petrol engine.

It carries pumped air through the secondary air circuit between the air pump and the air rail, where fresh air is introduced into the exhaust ports during cold running so that unburnt fuel continues to oxidise and the catalysts reach operating temperature more quickly.

Hoses in this circuit sit in a hot underbonnet position and harden and split with age, which typically presents as a secondary air flow fault.
