Fuel Purge Valve for the evaporative emission control (EVAP) system.

The valve sits between the charcoal canister and the inlet manifold. Under engine management control it opens to draw stored fuel vapour out of the canister and into the induction air stream, where it is burned as part of the normal combustion charge; when closed it isolates the canister from manifold vacuum. Petrol engine applications only.

A valve stuck open causes a persistent vacuum leak and unstable idle; a valve stuck closed leaves the canister unpurged and sets an evaporative emission fault code.
