It forms the front wheel arch and valance, carrying the outer front wing and closing the front body section. Supplied as a replacement where the original inner wing panel has corroded. The left-hand companion panel is ALR9841.

Where does the valance panel sit, and why replace it?
The valance panel is part of the front inner wing structure on the right of the Discovery 1, behind the outer wing. These inner panels typically corrode where they trap mud and water, which is the usual reason for replacement during front-end repair.
Do I need the left-hand panel as well?
The ALR9842 is the right-hand panel only. The matching left-hand valance is ALR9841, so order both if you're rebuilding both front inner wings. Check your Discovery 1 chassis number falls between VIN FA393361 and WA799999 before ordering.
