Crankshaft Timing Chain Sprocket The drive sprocket mounted on the nose of the crankshaft within the timing chain drive of the Rover V8 petrol engine.

It transmits crankshaft rotation through the timing chain to the camshaft sprocket, maintaining the fixed timing relationship between the crankshaft and camshaft that governs valve and ignition timing.
