Frequently asked questions

What is the coolant pipe – thermostat housing used for?
The coolant pipe – thermostat housing forms the coolant outlet from the engine on the Range Rover L322 4.4L V8 petrol (AJ-V8). It locates the thermostat in the circuit between the cylinder head and the radiator hose, opening flow to the radiator as coolant temperature rises.
Where on the vehicle is this housing located?
It sits at the engine coolant outlet within the cooling circuit of the L322 4.4L V8 petrol. The thermostat mounts inside this housing, and the radiator outlet hose connects to it.
Why does this coolant housing need replacing?
The housing is usually renewed when it cracks or leaks at its joint faces, or when the thermostat inside no longer opens and closes correctly. Overheating or a coolant leak near the engine outlet on the L322 V8 typically points here.
How do I confirm this fits my Range Rover?
This fits the Range Rover L322 with the 4.4L V8 petrol AJ engine, built 2002-2009. Because L322 was sold with petrol and diesel engines, confirm your engine with the VIN before ordering.
