Door Latch - Front - LH - latch assembly for the left-hand front door, mounted in the shut face of the door and working against the striker on the body pillar.

The latch captures and retains the striker to hold the door closed and releases it when the interior or exterior handle is operated. It also houses the locking mechanism that the central locking system drives, so a fault inside the unit can present either mechanically - a door that will not latch or will not release - or electrically, as a door that ignores the remote and interior lock controls. Separate latches are listed by door side and by steering position, and this one is the left-hand front unit for left-hand-drive vehicles.

Before fitting, check the striker for wear and for movement in its mounting. Set the door so the latch closes onto the striker squarely, without the door having to be lifted or dropped onto it, then confirm both handles and the central locking operate the latch through their full travel.
