Frequently asked questions

What is the LR018260 fuel tank vent hose used for?
The LR018260 is the fuel tank vent hose on the Defender. It's part of the fuel tank ventilation circuit, letting the tank breathe and equalise internal pressure as fuel level and temperature change. Without it, the tank can't vent properly, causing running or filling problems.
Which Defender models and engines does it fit?
The LR018260 fits the Defender from 1987 to 2006 with the 2.5L four-cylinder TDi or the Td5 2.5L five-cylinder diesel. This is the genuine Land Rover hose, applicable from VIN WA159807, so check your chassis number on early builds.
Why do fuel vent hoses fail on these vehicles?
Fuel tank vent hoses typically fail through age, with the rubber hardening, cracking or perishing after years of fuel vapour and heat exposure. Signs include a fuel smell, difficulty filling the tank, or a hissing tank. A new hose restores proper venting on the Defender TDi and Td5.
Is this the same as part number WFH101790?
WFH101790 is a cross-reference number that matches this fuel tank vent hose. If your old hose or catalogue shows WFH101790, the LR018260 is the correct genuine Land Rover replacement for the Defender TDi and Td5.
