Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor for the pre-catalyst position in the exhaust after-treatment system of the 2.2L Puma TDCi diesel engine.

Installed upstream of the catalyst, it reports exhaust gas temperature to the engine control module, which uses the reading to manage diesel particulate filter regeneration and protect the after-treatment components from overheating. Fitted with an orange connector to distinguish it from the other temperature sensors in the exhaust circuit.
Vehicle Model Land Rover Defender up to 2016
Fitment Notes DEFENDER 2007-2016 — 2.2L Diesel (Puma), pre-cat exhaust gas temperature sensor. Fits 90/110/130 wheelbase

Frequently asked questions

What does the pre-cat exhaust gas temperature sensor do?
The pre-cat exhaust gas temperature sensor sits upstream of the catalyst on the 2.2L Puma diesel and reports exhaust temperature to the engine control module. The ECM uses it to manage DPF regeneration and protect the after-treatment from overheating.
Which Defender does this EGT sensor fit?
This pre-cat EGT sensor fits the Land Rover Defender 2007-2016 with the 2.2L Puma diesel, across 90, 110 and 130 wheelbases. It's the sensor with the orange connector.
How do I tell this sensor from the others in the exhaust?
This pre-cat sensor is identified by its orange connector, which distinguishes it from the other exhaust temperature sensors in the circuit. Match the connector colour and the pre-cat position to be sure you fit the right one.
What are the signs the EGT sensor needs replacing?
A failing EGT sensor usually triggers an engine warning light, failed or frequent DPF regenerations, or limp mode on the 2.2L Puma. Corrosion or heat damage at the tip is the common cause.
