Accelerator Pedal Potentiometer is the pedal position sensor within the electronic engine management system, converting accelerator pedal travel into a voltage signal read by the engine ECU.

Mounted at the accelerator pedal, the potentiometer varies its output as the pedal is depressed, providing the driver-demand signal the ECU uses to control fuelling on the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel. It takes the place of the mechanical throttle cable and linkage used on earlier engines.
