Air Conditioning Compressor is the driven pump of the air conditioning refrigerant circuit, drawing low-pressure refrigerant vapour from the evaporator and compressing it for delivery to the condenser.

Driven by the engine accessory belt through an electromagnetic clutch, the compressor raises refrigerant pressure and temperature so heat can be rejected at the condenser, circulating refrigerant around the system whenever the air conditioning is engaged. Used on vehicles fitted with manual air conditioning.
