Rear Shock Absorber forms part of the rear suspension damping assembly. It controls the oscillation of the road spring, damping axle and body movement to keep the tyre in contact with the road surface and stabilise ride and handling.

This is the passive damper specification, fitted to vehicles built without the electronically-controlled Adaptive Dynamics damping system. It mounts between the rear suspension and the body and works in conjunction with the coil spring to absorb road inputs. Shock absorbers should be replaced as an axle pair to maintain balanced damping.
