Primary Fuel Filter - diesel fuel supply circuit, mounted in-line in the fuel lines between the tank and the engine.

As the first filtration stage downstream of the tank, it separates bulk water and coarse contamination out of the fuel before it can reach the high-pressure pump and the common-rail injectors - the components least tolerant of abrasive debris and water. Diesel applications only.

A restricted primary filter presents as fuel starvation under load, extended cranking, rough running and low rail-pressure faults. Replacement at the scheduled service interval is the cheapest protection the injection system has.

The primary fuel filter traps water and debris in the diesel supply before it reaches the pump and injectors. On the Range Rover Velar L560 it mounts in-line at the front of the fuel lines, covering the 2.0L I4 and 3.0L V6 diesel engines.
Which Velar models does it suit?
This filter fits Range Rover Velar diesel models from 2017 onward. It serves the 3.0 V6 diesel Gen2 twin-turbo and the 2.0L I4 diesel in high and mid output, including the dirty-fuel-market build. It's not used on petrol Velars.
When should I change the fuel filter?
Change the primary fuel filter if the Velar shows diesel starvation symptoms such as hesitation, reduced power or a fuel warning. Keeping the filter fresh shields the injectors and high-pressure pump from water and grit damage.
