Exhaust Gas Pressure Sensor - differential pressure sensor in the exhaust aftertreatment system on 3.0L V6 and 4.4L V8 diesel engines.

The sensor is connected by take-off pipes across the diesel particulate filter and reports the pressure drop between filter inlet and outlet to the engine management system. That signal is how the ECU estimates soot loading and determines when to command a regeneration, so a drifting or failed sensor typically presents as a stored fault code, regeneration attempts that are repeated or never triggered, and a particulate filter warning.

The sensor body mounts away from the exhaust itself and is linked to it only by its sense pipes, so those pipes and their unions should be checked for soot blockage, chafing or cracking whenever the sensor is renewed.
