Oil Level Sensor Wire - wiring lead that connects the oil level sensor in the oil pan to the engine harness. Part of the oil pan and oil level indicator assembly on the 3.0L V6 diesel engine.

The lead carries the sensor signal to the engine management system, which converts it into the oil level indication presented to the driver. Because it runs in the sump area it is exposed to heat and oil, and chafed insulation or a corroded connector will produce implausible readings, an intermittent oil level warning, or no reading at all.

The lead is renewed as a separate item from the sensor itself, so a wiring fault does not require replacing the sensor.
