Bonnet Secondary Safety Catch - part of the bonnet latch mechanism at the front of the vehicle.

The secondary catch is the back-up retention that holds the bonnet down once the primary latch has been released, and prevents the bonnet from opening if the primary latch releases unintentionally in service. It must be lifted or squeezed by hand at the leading edge of the bonnet before the bonnet can be raised.

A worn, corroded or distorted catch can prevent the bonnet from latching fully or make release difficult, and is replaced as a unit.
