Air Duct - the induction duct of the air cleaner assembly, carrying filtered air from the air cleaner outlet to the turbocharger compressor inlet.

It is the clean-side link between the air cleaner box and the turbocharger, and its joints must remain airtight: a leak downstream of the filter admits unfiltered air straight to the compressor wheel, while a collapsed or restricted duct reduces the air available to the turbocharger. Fitted to the Td5 2.5L 5-cylinder turbo diesel.

The moulding hardens and splits with age and underbonnet heat, most often at the flexible section and around the clamped ends; a split duct shows up as poor throttle response and an audible induction leak.
