Plastic Rivet from the engine cooling assembly, used to retain the radiator and the coolant overflow container.

The rivet is a push-fit fastener: it passes through the aligned holes in the component and its mounting, and expands behind the panel as the centre pin is driven home to lock the joint. It holds lightweight plastic components in place without the concentrated clamping load or the corrosion risk of a threaded fixing, and is released by drawing the centre pin back out.
