The reservoir sits between the compressor outlet and the valve block, which distributes air to the individual air springs. Keeping a charged reservoir reduces compressor duty cycle and run time.

Leaks at the tank or at corroded line unions are a common cause of a compressor that runs excessively - check the reservoir and its connections when investigating slow ride-height response.
