ABS Sensor - front wheel speed sensor, part of the anti-lock braking and vehicle dynamics sensing circuit.
The sensor mounts at the front hub carrier and reads the encoder ring on the wheel bearing, generating a wheel speed signal for the ABS modulator. The same signal is used by the stability control, traction control and hill descent functions and contributes to road speed indication, so a failed sensor typically disables several systems at once rather than the anti-lock function alone.
One sensor is fitted per front hub.
