What's the difference between this sensor and the short type?
This is the long-body front ABS sensor that terminates in loose wires rather than an integral connector plug. The short-type front sensor is the separate part TAR100060. Match the body length and wiring termination to your Discovery 2 loom before ordering, as the two are not interchangeable.
What are the symptoms of a faulty front ABS sensor?
A faulty front ABS sensor typically triggers the ABS and traction warning lights and can disable the anti-lock function on that corner. On the Discovery 2, causes usually include a damaged sensor tip, corroded wiring, or debris on the tone ring. A fault code for the front wheel usually points to the sensor.
Where is this sensor fitted and can I replace it at home?
The front ABS sensor mounts at the front hub of the Discovery 2, reading the tone ring on the drive member. Replacing it is usually a DIY job, freeing the sensor and routing the loose-wire tail back to the loom connector. Clean the mounting bore so the new sensor seats to the correct air gap.
