ABS Sensor - Rear, part of the four-wheel anti-lock braking system.

The rear wheel speed sensor reads the passing teeth of the exciter (reluctor) ring as the wheel turns and feeds the resulting rotational-speed signal to the ABS control unit. The control unit compares all four wheels to detect impending lock-up and modulate brake pressure accordingly.

A failed or contaminated sensor commonly triggers the ABS warning lamp and disables anti-lock function on that circuit.

Frequently asked questions

What does the rear ABS sensor do?
The rear ABS sensor is the wheel speed sensor that reads the passing teeth of the exciter (reluctor) ring as the wheel turns. It feeds the rotational-speed signal to the ABS control unit, which compares all four wheels to detect impending lock-up and modulate brake pressure. This is a Bearmach OEM sensor.
Which Range Rover does this rear ABS sensor fit, and what is AMR3314?
This rear ABS sensor fits the Range Rover Classic with the 4-wheel anti-lock braking system, from VIN JA610294 onward. It's interchangeable with Land Rover reference AMR3314. Confirm your chassis number falls in range, as earlier Classics without the 4-wheel ABS system use a different setup.
What are the symptoms of a failed rear ABS sensor?
A failed or contaminated rear ABS sensor commonly triggers the ABS warning lamp and disables anti-lock function on that circuit. Typical causes include debris on the sensor tip, a damaged reluctor ring or a broken signal wire. Normal braking continues, but anti-lock on that wheel is lost.
