Front Wheel Speed Sensor (ABS) - active wheel speed sensor in the anti-lock braking and stability control circuit.

Mounted in the front hub carrier, the sensor reads the encoder ring integrated into the wheel bearing and returns a rotation signal to the ABS module. That signal is shared with the traction control and stability control strategies, so a failed sensor commonly sets an ABS fault and disables stability control at the same time.

The same sensor is used on both front corners; two are fitted per vehicle. On installation the lead must be re-secured into its original harness clips so it stays clear of the driveshaft and moves freely through full suspension travel - chafed leads are a frequent cause of intermittent signal faults.
