Air filter element for the air cleaner housing in the intake system of the 3.2 and 4.0 litre V8 petrol engine.

The element seats in the air cleaner housing and filters the full intake air stream ahead of the mass air flow sensor and throttle body, keeping abrasive airborne debris out of the engine and the air flow measurement free of contamination. A restricted or contaminated element reduces air flow and distorts the metered air signal, so it is renewed at the scheduled service interval rather than cleaned.
