Swivel Pin Housing, left-hand side - the ball housing that forms the outer end of the front axle and carries the steering swivel.

It is located on the axle case by the upper and lower swivel pins, which provide the steering pivot axis, and carries the stub axle on its outer face. The constant velocity joint runs inside the housing, transmitting drive to the hub through the steering angle. The polished outer surface of the ball runs against the swivel seal, which retains the lubricant inside the housing.
