Swivel Kit - repair kit for one front swivel housing assembly. The swivel housing is the steering pivot at the outer end of the front axle case: it carries the stub axle and hub, and the axle shaft passes through it to the drive flange.

This kit renews the pivot and sealing components in the 8mm swivel seal configuration. The swivel housing ball is not supplied, so the existing ball must still be serviceable.

This kit contains the upper swivel pin, swivel pin bearing, swivel housing oil seal, retaining plate and shims, gasket, joint washers and a sachet of swivel housing grease. One kit covers one side of the vehicle.

What's included in the GA3164P swivel repair kit?
The GA3164P renews the pivot and sealing components of one front swivel housing without replacing the ball itself. It includes the upper swivel pin, pin bearing, oil seal, retaining plate, shims and gasket in the 8mm seal specification, so your existing swivel ball must still be serviceable.
Do I need one or two GA3164P kits for a swivel service?
One kit covers a single swivel housing, so a full front axle service on Discovery 1 or Range Rover Classic needs two GA3164P kits.
How do I know if my existing swivel ball can be reused with this kit?
Check the ball's machined face for pitting, scoring or corrosion where the oil seal runs. If that surface isn't smooth, order the GA3164 kit instead, which includes a new ball.
Is the GA3164P the same as the 12mm swivel repair kit?
No. The GA3164P uses the 8mm swivel seal specification, while the GA3163P covers the same repair for the 12mm seal variant fitted to earlier production. Match the seal size to your vehicle's original specification.
