Front Brake Hose - the flexible section of the front brake circuit, running between the rigid brake pipe on the body and the front brake caliper. Used on either side of the axle.

Because the front hub moves with both suspension travel and steering lock, this section has to flex through the full range of that movement while still containing hydraulic pressure without expanding. Any swelling under pressure is absorbed as lost pedal travel, which is why a perished hose gives a soft or long pedal even when the system is free of air.

Brake hoses degrade internally as well as externally: cracking, chafing, or bulging at the crimped end fittings calls for replacement. The circuit must be bled after fitting.
