Aftermarket: Quality alternative. This is a quality alternative, designed to fit and function like the original part, often at a more competitive price.
Front Brake Hose - the flexible section of the front brake circuit, running between the rigid brake pipe on the body and the front brake caliper. Used on either side of the axle.

Because the front hub moves with both suspension travel and steering lock, this section has to flex through the full range of that movement while still containing hydraulic pressure without expanding. Any swelling under pressure is absorbed as lost pedal travel, which is why a perished hose gives a soft or long pedal even when the system is free of air.

Brake hoses degrade internally as well as externally: cracking, chafing, or bulging at the crimped end fittings calls for replacement. The circuit must be bled after fitting.

What is the LR135810R front brake hose?
The LR135810R is the front flexible brake hose for the Freelander 2 (2006-2014), running between the rigid brake pipe on the body and the front caliper. It flexes through steering and suspension movement while carrying brake fluid under pressure. Used on either side of the front axle.
How many front brake hoses do I need?
This hose fits either front side, so a Freelander 2 has two, one per front wheel. They are often replaced as a pair since both age the same way. Each is sold individually, so order two if you are doing both sides.
Does this replace LR008148 or LR040770, and does it fit all Freelander 2s?
Yes, the LR135810R covers the earlier LR008148 and LR040770 front hoses for the Freelander 2, up to VIN EH400633. Later cars used a revised hose, so check your VIN. If your records show one of those numbers, this is the current replacement.
When should a front brake hose be replaced?
Replace a front brake hose if it is cracked, bulging, weeping or chafed on the Freelander 2. A perished hose can burst under braking or swell and drag the brake. After fitting, the brakes must be bled. Inspect both sides when doing one.
