Brake Hose for the left-hand rear of the hydraulic braking circuit - the flexible link between the rigid brake pipe on the body and the caliper carried on the moving suspension upright.

Because the rear suspension travels through its full range and the hub assembly moves relative to the body, the final section of the circuit cannot be a rigid pipe. This hose carries full system pressure while flexing continuously, and its reinforcing braid limits expansion under pedal pressure so that pedal feel stays firm rather than spongy.

A hose that has swollen internally, cracked in the outer cover or chafed against surrounding components gives a soft or lengthening pedal and is a common periodic inspection failure. Replace hoses in pairs across an axle so both sides behave identically, and bleed the circuit thoroughly afterwards.
