Rear Brake Pad Axle Set - friction pads for the rear service brake, supplied as a complete axle set covering both rear wheels.

The pads sit in the caliper carrier and are clamped against the rear brake disc by the caliper pistons under hydraulic pressure. Renewing both sides as a set keeps braking effort balanced across the axle and prevents the uneven pad wear that follows a single-side replacement.

On an electrified drivetrain much of the routine deceleration is handled by regenerative braking, so the rear friction material sees less work than on a conventional vehicle. Pad and disc condition should still be inspected at every service, as lightly used pads and discs are prone to surface corrosion and glazing rather than wear.

Brake pads are a safety-critical component: bed the new pads in progressively and check that the caliper slides and pistons move freely before returning the vehicle to service.
