Brake Drum - rear brake drum, part of the rear drum brake assembly.

The drum fits over the rear brake shoes and rotates with the wheel hub. When the brakes are applied, the shoes are forced outward against the drum's internal friction surface to slow the wheel. The machined inner bore forms the wear face against which the shoe linings act.

Replace as an axle pair and inspect the brake shoes and wheel cylinder at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

What is the SDC000010 brake drum used for?
The SDC000010 is the rear brake drum for the Land Rover Freelander 1 (1996-2006). It fits over the rear brake shoes and rotates with the hub; when the brakes are applied the shoes press outward against its inner face to slow the wheel.
What are the signs a Freelander 1 rear brake drum needs replacing?
Rear brake drums usually need replacing when the inner friction face becomes scored, grooved or worn beyond its limit, which can cause juddering or reduced braking. On the Freelander 1, worn drums are often found alongside worn shoes during a rear brake service.
Should the rear brake drum be replaced as a pair?
Yes, replace rear brake drums as an axle pair to keep braking balanced side to side. On the Freelander 1 it's also worth inspecting the brake shoes and wheel cylinder while the drum is off, as these parts wear together.
How do I confirm this drum fits my Freelander?
The SDC000010 fits the Land Rover Freelander 1 (1996-2006) from VIN 1A000001. Confirm your Freelander has a drum-braked rear axle and check your VIN before ordering.
